'I have a interview there, for some company called Verizon, but not thinking to join, as they are offering location in Hyderabad and Chennai ', i answered such simple question with 50 characters .
My such long answer stopped him from asking further questions and he wished me gud luck.
He signed off while i went invisible and continued with Generics experiment on eclipse ... in one year of my experience , i didn't actually worked on core java but some kind of sequential programming in java !!But it was Aashu, who motivated me to go and at least try for the interview.
The clock went off at 6 'o' clock and i wondered what was the result i was expecting, to find myself sleeping. Since i was going for fun and experience, i dressed without care and put on my specs .
Interview was supposed to be started at 10 A.M , and i was in the hotel at 9:30 A.M.. Still half an hour and i was wondering how will be the interview process, will he ask jsp or servlets or jms , as i entered the elevator and pressed -2 instead of +2 , without realizing when the gates opened at basement i was thinking why they will keep interview among the cars and realized my stupidity ,i am in basement .
Turned toward the mirror as the elevator rose to 4 levels above and i stepped out in a meeting hall where , people had started going for the round 1 interview.
I arranged the CV and look around Oh gosh !! everybody is having minimum 2 years experience , what chance do i stand ??
Finally i was called for my first round of interview while i was just having a peep at all the attendees.
'So tell me about yourself ', came the response to my simple Hi , from a man in his thirties.
My short 1.5 year technical life was finisihed in 4 sentences when he asked me two simple questions and relieved me by saying ' Wait in the hall, will call you for second round of interview'.
My hands started shivering and i now wanted to clear all the rounds much more than anyhting else, and while i was making plans, what will i say to Manager while resigning , HR called me for second round of technical discussion and as he handed my CV to some person .
He turned and said ' Hi, I am Prashanth', south indian , thought crossed my mind and I smiled said 'Hi !! Priyanka'.
While his eyes were fixed on my CV and I was following his gaze on CV, preparing myself for the arrows of java. With his eyes glued to CV he complimented , it's surprising that you have worked on JMS in starting of your career and asked about me.
Again i repeated the same technical history and hold my hands from shaking so much and considered lucky that he can't see my hands trembling with nervousness.
A moment passed and after that may be minutes that he and I was kind of finding out how much i know JAVA ABC and of framework or API , I have mentioned in CV.
To which he concluded by asking my salary expectations and choice of location, and gave me a hope that HR will give you a call .
I left the hotel, happily not with the hope of getting call from HR but i have met some person , who is Technically strong , and while answering his questions i didn't felt i am being interviwed but having a discussion . I felt so peace in my heart , meeting a nice person, that i happily did some shopping and came back home .
Phone calls started in evening , how was your interview ?? asked Tushar
It was good , but the guy who took my interview was so intelligent, I am impressed', I responded and smiled, which Tushar immediately understood and teased me , 'Why you didn't took his number?', the second person whom i have praised for his intelligence after my TL and mentor in Infosys.
I can't and with usual talks we said bye , I saw the time in my cellphone , when i saw unknown number flashing on screen and wondering who this well wisher would be, I said hello and came the reply 'Hi !, I took your interview in morning ', while running through the thoughts I responded back in acknowledgment and it was him , Prashanth , I hear his side of story, why HR might not give a call.
I was silent for a moment and thought did he really gave me his number. Friends teased me and i was blushing .
While i was busy in giving interviews, a week later after i had put down my papers, i called Prashanth and asked to send me request on Facebook .
Since that day and till this very moment I and he never communicated, but we are friends in facebook ;)
